Outsource your auto headache to us

Want to have your own car while in Russia? Doable and we are in a good position to help but....

First, I'll outline you the difficulties, obvious and otherwise, of car ownership in this land. Being a card-carrying sadist, I will enjoy pointing out the ugly details and describing consequences that may fall upon you. Yes, in Russia you can easily go to prison if someone dies as a result of an auto accident! Insurance will not necessarily cover you. And the probability of getting into trouble in an order of magnitude higher than at home. Unless you live in Columbia or Peru or The Ivory Cost. No, I will not proceed unless I am convinced you understand what you are getting yourself into and are equipped to deal with consequences.

If we do decide to proceed, here is what I and my associates, largely Sergei, can do for you:

  • Overview of the auto market. Advice about purchase, registration, maintenance and storage. Making arrangements to have the vehicle's condition expertly assessed before purchase.

  • Assistance with registration. Since foreign nationals cannot easily register a vehicle I can offer a reliable local resident, probably me.

  • Safety check.

  • Reliable inexpensive storage.

  • Regular inspection of your vehicle if you are out of the country for long periods of time. Full cycle of activating it before you arrive here.

  • Assistance with selling your car when you no longer need it.

  • Anything else so that your trips to Russia DON'T revolve around the car and associated issues. I've been there myself in 1993-1994. Now, well rooted here, I'm in a good position to spare you a lot of trouble.

The fees are based on my usual hourly rate in the $25-50 range. The acquisition process may cost up to $1000 of my fees. Once a car is procured the maintenance fee may be as low as $100/month. That will include regularly checking how your car feels about life while sitting in the parking lots by starting it, taking it for a drive, making sure gas doesn't go stale, recharging the battery once in a while, and taking it in for full service before your arrival.

I'M WILL CONSIDER THE THE IDEA OF BUYING SEVERAL CARS TO CREATE A POOL OF VEHICLES TO BE USED BY FREQUENT TRAVELLERS TO RUSSIA. Since most of regular travellers to Russia don't need the wheels on full time basis 2-3 cars can easily serve the needs of perhaps 10 people each of whole will be making a fairly small monthly contribution to enable me to monitor the situation and have a car ready for you. Just a thought...
